Overview

Advanced Standing (also known as credit) is points granted towards the requirements of a degree for studies completed outside of that degree and/or the University of Melbourne.

The Environments Advanced Standing Policy is intended to be read in conjunction with the University Advanced Standing policy, and to clarify its operation and applicability in the Environments Student Centre. The Environments Advanced Standing Policy applies to Bachelor of Environments students. It also applies to prospective students applying for admission to the Bachelor of Environments.

Procedures

Students may seek advice on the University Advanced Standing Policy, the Environments Advanced Standing Policy and associated procedures from the Student Centre at any time.

Applications for advanced standing should be made online to the Student Centre when a student first enrols in the Bachelor of Environments. A member of the Student Advice team will assess the application, determine and process the advanced standing entitlement, record it in the advanced standing register, and advise the student accordingly. Where the advanced standing application is of a non-standard or complex nature the Student Advice team may refer to the Student Centre Manager for advice. Where the advanced standing application requires academic expertise, the referral points set out above will be used.

Complex advanced standing applications may be referred to the Bachelor of Environments Course Standing Committee for resolution where required.

Tools

Students should apply for advanced standing via the University Application for Credit/Exemption form. Students eligible for advanced standing for Lateral Entry, Cross-Institutional Study, Exchange and Study Abroad and Internal Course Transfer need only complete the associated forms and not the Application for Credit/Exemption. Refer to the relevant policies for details.

Authorisation and Responsibility
